Yeah, and maybe also take the liberty of swapping the adjective and noun around.

'Ignorant scum' or something like that.
December 16, 2025 at 12:59 PM
It's a good question.

I think - from using council reporting tool - that it's one of the things they have to refer you to police Scotland for
December 14, 2025 at 3:51 PM
to *some* extent, yeah

If you've got sinuses that look like mordor then 'pervert hamster bottle' is definitely the lesser evil.

As soon as I posted this I realised what a hypocrite I am

I already know what kind of crazy old man I am gonna be and it's a "cars don't belong in cities" kind.
December 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM
I didn't think it was controversial but apologies if I didn't communicate well.

I'm claiming that more of the revenue from the eating and drinking ends up with whoever owns the stadium, rather than with a bunch of unrelated businesses.
December 13, 2025 at 6:55 PM
Their spending on food and drink is less captive! There are lots of bars and places to eat before and after the game.

(I wasn't disagreeing with you, just pointing out that location is a factor as well as ownership)
December 13, 2025 at 6:37 PM
It's crazy but it's the same everywhere. The shittier the location of your stadium the more the supporters are a captive market for you.

My team (Dundee FC) looking at moving from a central location in city to out of town location. In 2025! But the economic logic is hard to resist.

I'm pretty sure the figures are from OECD - possibly was originally from their "Health at a Glance" reports but maybe someone else's visualisation of their data. TBH I've seen several versions of same chart and just picked this one as was already on bluesky with useful alt text. Lazy!
December 12, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Yes they are

Lot of folk where I am feel the same way about Thatcher.

That was definitely when a lot of these problems started. Trouble is that forty-odd years later we're still doing a lot of the same shit. We should know better by now!

I assume everybody has seen this graph before but just in case not:

Ah, Reagan.

See the US line in this chart? Know when it started its split from the rest of the first world countries? I’ll give you one guess.

Varies in different genres and eras of course, but being in a band who write and record their own music is probably more analogous to a writer/director of independent films rather than 'just' an actor in a studio movie. More autonomous, more demanding, etc etc.

Not many nepo baby directors.

McIlroy was a professional competing under the NI flag for nearly a decade before golf was (re-)added to the olympics. I don't think your argument holds up even now, but it definitely can't be applied retrospectively.
