This sounds like fun! Was this an open/public group, or something your network put together?

I'm actually moving to Boulder CO in early 2026 and will be working fully remotely, and am thinking about how to meet people and make connections (and not turn into a hermit who doesn't leave the house 😅)

Thanks for the tip!

Ah, I ordered it specifically because my partner loves lattes and there's a coffee shop right off the bike path on his commute! Guess I'll have to see what his latte to phone ratio ends up being 😉

Awesome, adding to cart, thanks!

Thanks @bikehfxlobby.bsky.social @shastingssimon.bsky.social for the endorsements! My partner just got a new bike, and is an avid coffee drinker, so I'm trying to help with his bike set up 😉

Incredible what people can create!

Hope you have an amazing time! Also, I thought the Shibori museum in Kyoto was pretty cool, as someone interested in textile arts, and I wish I had planned better so I could take one of their hands-on workshops. I have to make my way back to Japan at some point in the future!

Jealous! I was in Tokyo & Kyoto last year and miss the food! In case you're open to suggestions, Shoraian
松籟庵 in Kyoto was probably my favorite meal that trip. Multi-course tofu-focused menu (not vegetarian if I'm remembering correctly though, in case that's important to you)

On Android/Google Messages, you can go into "Settings > RCS Chats" and there's a toggle for "show typing indicator" and for "show read receipts." I presume other systems have a similar toggle.

True true. I feel like if we can get her to test ride one, she might be more convinced once she experiences how fun it is.

It was 20 minutes of conversation with a woman I had never met before. It was so nice and brought two complete strangers together all for the main topic of the simple bicycle. The bicycle and active cities can heal society in a way that segregating car culture could never.

Gah I hate that "e bikes= cheating" mentality. My MIL commented about wanting to try biking to work; it'd be ~4 miles but involves a significant hill. I suggested looking at ebikes but she balked at prices and thought it'd negate her goal of exercising 🤷🏻‍♀️ Will see if we can get her on a test ride...

On the one hand I appreciate when people are upfront about their source so I can weigh the statement accordingly, but I also want to bang my head against a wall whenever I hear, "According to ChatGPT...", *especially* at work.

I agree with you that we tend to be more motivated to write in complaints, so I've tried to make an effort to also write in about positive things. At the very least, I hope it brightens someone's day (and longer term, hopefully encourages them to keep doing what they're doing!)

I've written to the city transportation staff with praise for new bike lane projects and have gotten some lovely messages back. Also have written to construction or delivery companies when I see them do a good job detouring bikes and have also gotten positive messages back!
