Lookit him go. I was trying to take a picture of him threatening to knock the @helleborezine.bsky.social Occult Britain buke off the table, but he saw the camera at the last minute and jumped, covering up evidence of evil intent with cute athleticism.

A good night to be wearing my 40s Phillies with their Blue Jays logo. If you are Phillies fan and aren’t cheering for Daulton Varsho, I curse you and all your family to bad cheesesteaks. Also, screw you, Dodgers.

Three images from a reflective late afternoon walk around Leith. Slightly thrown by the new builds which tower like something out of corporate buildings in Scanners, and all too glad to get back to the cluttered Leith I have lived in for most of my time in Edinburgh.

A small patch of blue sky is framed by the buildings either side of the picture, and in the distance, some trees on the links. Dockside apartment blocks on the edge of Leith Docks. The new windows and signage reflect the bright sun as the buildings tower over the paving and neatly trimmed grass. Looking down the old docks of leith, the sun picking out old buildings and newer apartments built over 20 years ago. The water is still so the buildings and the blue sky are reflected. To the right of the picture, next to the waterfront’s edge, a lampost stands, the cone of the lightshade hanging from a gently curving piece of ironwork, a beautiful thing amidst the hodge podge of the old and relatively new. The heavily graffitied cream coloured shop wall of the Edinburgh Mobility Solutions Shop. On the right of the picture, one of the shops windows covered with pictures of walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. At the top, a plastic red and white shop sign. To the left a strong metal door with yet more graffiti. In the middle, the black and white image of older woman wearing a thigh length cardigan covered with flowers, her long skirt underneath. She has a wide floppy brimmed hat on her head, her almost shoulder length hhair shaggy like straw, and she looks through big round glasses whilst smiling widely, almost laughing. In one hand she grips her walking stick. In another a spray can. Next to the picture, amidst the tags, you can see written in pink the words ‘I hope you never fit in’.

When your feline flatmate is both indulging his love of fibres which sound fun when you lick them and also intentionally shaming you for not feeding him.
Finrod, friend to man, a lack and brown striped tabby has his head poked out from behind a cream-coloured blind, and through the blind you can see the shadow of his tongue as he likes it. His eyes are focused slightly to the left of the picture, managing to both glare intentionally at the photographer (me) and also conveying how much he enjoys the raspy feeling of the blind on his tongue.

On reflection, and after listening to @justinklugh.bsky.social, @lizroscher.bsky.social and @johnstolnis.bsky.social this morning, I am just sad. Yesterday, between work and the game, I was exhausted.

If Marsh, Casty, Bohm and Schwarbs are likely all gone, I hope Sosa doesn’t get traded too.
Edmundo Sosa leans over and cradles the head of a despairing Orion Kerkering, who is sat on the bench in the dugout. To Kerk’s right Weston Wilson looks out on the field, bewildered but stoic, his arm around the young pitcher’s shoulders. This picture is pretty much all of my feelings about the 2025 Phillies.
