🎉 I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on: Fileboost - a Ruby on Rails plugin that delivers images without making your servers sweat.

When I was scaling Rails apps, I ran into a bottleneck I hadn’t expected: Active Storage.

🧵 more details...
⚡ Fileboost is now open for everyone –– Delegate your Rails app images delivery to us and improve performance.

🙏 Thank you for all the early adopters for taking the time to provide valuable feedback. It helped me tremendously in ironing out the bugs and improve image deliverability.

🎉Onboarded first customer for Fileboost and received a lot of feedback along the way.

They were able to get the setup done in less than 10 minutes. Can't wait to get Fileboost in the hands of more customers.

To keep things fair and simple for the early customers.
I'm keeping ⚡Fileboost to be "upgrade at your own pace" model and putting my trust in the users.

Alright, I got the following things in working state:

✅ High performance API
✅ Ruby on Rails gem
✅ Functional customer facing app
✅ Basic usage analytics
✅ Sign in via Github

I believe this should be enough to launch as MVP.
I'm working on a small SaaS after a very long time. It is based on my learnings of scaling Ruby on Rails apps so far.

I believe this would help in improving end user experience & could bring down infra cost.

Gonna share more about the product in coming days... Stay tuned 👀

Alright, Resuming work on Monday after a short break.

I haven’t been keeping up with AI as much as I should have in the last couple of months. I’m gonna take next week dive into few of the topics that I came across.

I'd be happy to pay for an AI tool that can understand my business use case and generate seed data for dev environment 🙏

A big chunk of my time is spent on getting the data right to test features

📦 Released v0.1 and sent first set of invites to folks who registered for early access (check your emails)

Now that packaging, distribution & auto-update are set I'm gonna focus in shipping features 🚀
I told myself I wouldn't buy a domain until this app reaches at least 5 pre orders. I reached the threshold today, couldn't thank the community enough ❤️

Got logspect.app (log + inspect). Gonna ship v0.1 this weekend to all the folks ordering before Sunday

I got tired of parsing Rails logs in my head & keep trying to find relevant stuff for debugging. Always looking for a needle in a haystack.

I'm building a desktop app to solve this problem for myself. Here is a sneak peek 👀

Just had a wild thought:
what if database supported native on demand caching.

It would eliminate a big abstraction layer from applications & help in simplifying infrastructure complexity.

I opened bolt.new with no expections, one thing lead to another and I ended up building an invoice generator tool from scratch in ~4 hours with very little nudges from my side 😲

What does your Ruby on Rails monitoring stack look like?

Our infrastructure processes ~3B background jobs (that's 1K/second!) and ~600M web requests per month with 99.99% uptime in the last 6 months.

This would have not been possible without @bilal.dev
