Nice sized puff adder in the garden this morning. The lowveld is drifting into the dry season. As the bush dries out the rooibos leaves turn yellow.

The sacred ritual of cleansing the solar panels of baboon ordure is a time honoured ( it goes back at least 2 years into the mists of history ) and humble task. Our primate cousins are much maligned in these parts, a sentiment I was wholeheartedly embrace.

Flying in to the airforce base yesterday, the slow motion ecological disaster of over population by elephants is starkly illustrated in this photo. The destruction of the bushveld is obvious and its consequences still unfolding. A huge problem without any easy answers.

On my way out to pick up mail at the gate, came across this pride that had just killed a young impala ram. They made very short work of it.
