I can think of 2 times when leading U.S. officials fled Washington in a panic:
August 1814:
British forces briefly capture the capital and set fire to government buildings.
July 2025:
Republicans fear they'll have to vote on the Epstein files, so they adjourn early and run for the hills.

The militarisation of all police forces and govt agencies is the first sign of authoritarianism

And we here in Australia should have stomped on Border Force the moment it was announced, and if not then, as soon as they started awarding themselves "Operational Service Medals"
I obtained this from a community member minutes after arriving on scene following a raid at the Cypress Park Home Depot this morning. they detained day laborers.

If any country that actually cared about nature had only 1% natural woodland left, it would be paying farmers to keep their sheep OUT.

But in Ireland, they're paid to do the exact opposite, ensuring last remnants are eaten to death.

This is how much we care.

We are seeing this war in a nutshell over the last few days.

Richard Boyle should have been rewarded, not prosecuted.

He did the right thing but paid a huge price.

We need urgent reform & a whistleblower protection authority.

The xbench & I have a bill to establish the authority. The govt should get on with it.

It’s a national disgrace that ATO whistleblower Richard Boyle has been convicted under Labor for his bravery exposing, and ending, ATO wrongdoing. They are criminalising courage because truth telling is inconvenient for bad government.

Why are solar panels and batteries from China so cheap?

High levels of automation, cheap energy, and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.

It's less about low salaries than many people think.

The sacred ritual of cleansing the solar panels of baboon ordure is a time honoured ( it goes back at least 2 years into the mists of history ) and humble task. Our primate cousins are much maligned in these parts, a sentiment I was wholeheartedly embrace.

The Department of Central Planning and Child Rearing has figured out the optimal number of dolls and pencils each child should have to make beautiful Republic.
Trump: "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."
