Republican Rep. Don Bacon: Invading Greenland would be "the end of [Trump's] presidency. Most Republicans know this is immoral and wrong, and we’re going to stand up against it…. I think it would lead to impeachment. Invading an ally…is a high crime and a misdemeanor.” @hcrichardson.bsky.social

Remember when Republicans claimed to be champions of free speech and the press?

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Parties are fun, but the more clearly we recognize that we are confronting major catastrophic risks, the more likely it is we have a chance to actually navigate them and avoid civilizational collapse. 5/ youtu.be/wugkIxGKzx8

Those impacts are directly impacting financial markets. Earlier last year, for example, a global insurance executive warned that capitalism (and civilization itself) would not be able to survive the climate crisis on the current trajectory. 2/ www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The retreat is real, but it gives the impression that the only reason that the financial markets were starting to address climate and sustainability was pressure from activists and the desire to be fashionable. Nowhere does it mention the accelerating impacts of the climate crisis 1/

Sometimes the folks on Fox News try to send Trump a hint - Brian Kilmeade featured a poll that showed that 75% of Americans are against Trump's plans to take over Greenland. It's also odd to send the Governor of Louisiana as an envoy to an arctic island.

Huge progress! Elections matter!!
The Virginia legislature today passed four constitutional amendments, all by day 3 of 2026 session:

—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.

These will all go to 2026 referendums.
