There was a time when the United States looked down its nose at the countries in South America for being lawless banana republics. Who's the banana republic now, bitches?

This is called “chain refoulment” and it’s illegal under both U.S. and international law. And the State Department and ICE know very well what Ghana is doing and simply don’t care.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

we can spend forever fuming about where people get their information or make it a point to make left-leaning info and data appealing in the places where people are.

i know where i stand.

Rare agreement from both sides of the divide.

The Trump admin wants to open offshore drilling along the CA and FL coasts, and both Newsom & DeSantis are calling it out as a threat to the environment, tourism and coastal communities.

If these two are sounding the alarm together, you know it’s bad.

This is such a good point. There is no good reason to use chatgpt for recipes, and yet tech cos are basically forcing it on people in order (it seems) swallow food blogging along with news and everything else
This is so funny because recipes can literally already be copied and reposted with no attribution or copyright. All AI does here is add statistical noise and make the stolen content useless. AI can’t even steal content without fucking it up.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

The Comey and James prosecutions collapsing in such an embarrassing fashion really goes a long way towards making this administration look like a joke. Authoritarians want to project power, and this type of bungling does just the opposite, which hopefully emboldens the opposition.

A roundtrip LAX-JFK flight in the late 60s was around $3K in today’s dollars. The people who wore suits on those flights were the people who regularly wore suits. Complaining about informally-dressed fliers is complaining that the wrong sorts of people are flying today.

On the bright side for Trump, these indictments might still be refiled

So they can later be dismissed for malicious prosecution or lack of evidence

But while we laugh at the ineptitude of Bondi, James Comey and Letitia James still have to go through the expense and anxiety of defending themselves

And by design LLMs destroy shared context

Data was collected at initiation of HRT and at follow up, ranging from an average of 2 to 5 years later.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
