Todd Blanche calls Minnesota an “insurrection.” Calls the mayor and MN Governor terrorists.

That’s one of the top dogs at the Justice Department. Those words are more than trolling. Like I said, Minneapolis is a test market for a national rollout.

These neighborhood signal chats are absolutely crazy right now. You’ve got young activists in there with the most normie folks alive who all just absolutely fucking hate ICE so much. And they are all willing to put their bodies on the line for their communities.

I just need it to be clocked that this is the first major ICE-involved incident in the majority Black region of Minneapolis and tactics instantly shifted from tear gas to rubber bullets.

slipping on ice and dropping ammo like a dipshit character from Fortnite
A single federal agent with a long gun just walked through the crowd, slipped on the ice on his way under the police tape.

Dropped his loaded clip.

damn nice work
NEW: When Nick Benson (@ottergoose.net) put out the call for dashcams to film ICE, he thought he’d get maybe 10 people to donate. More than 500 have shown up on his front porch in suburban Minneapolis.

"We have to make sure we’re keeping track of our community members."

so much to cover right now, but a thread i just want to throw out there from my reporting is that the car rental market in minneapolis is reportedly totally screwed up right now because ICE has cleared the inventory. rental companies should have to answer for supplying vehicles used in terror.

giving myself an aneurysm imagining a Biden cabinet member attempting to sell this on cable tv amid post-Trump 1.0 inflation and corporate price gouging in 2021-2022.
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

A hard thing to process while living in Minnesota is seeing a lot of people across the country say things like “this is clearly the beginning of the end for this Administration”. I sure hope so….but a lot of heads are gonna get cracked in the meantime over here.

The House voted 341 to 79 to fund Trump's war-mongering foreign policy agenda.

Only 57 Democrats voted NO.

acronym bills are by definition unserious but Ritchie missed a chance to call this the "Could You Hold Still While You Take Me Act of 2026"—big whiff
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.

To any ICE agents reading this who are from down south—you have never experienced anything like this cold. Our European climate equivalent is literally Stalingrad. It will hurt to breathe. You will be outside in it. So will we, but we are used to it.

Next week is what will break you.
We've lead charmed weather lives so far in January.
Temperatures are +5F to +10F across MN so far this month. 🌡️
We're about to be reminded what persistent cold and occasional snow feels like. ❄️

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

Fine to laugh at the idea of putting QR codes on ICE goons for being stupid, which it is, but the conceptual place it comes from is that the people who are being brutalized by ICE are the ones responsible for reigning in and holding accountable a rogue federal agency. Worthless

Amazing how quickly the pretext for invading a city just falls away. The circular justification in Minneapolis is now “we are punishing the city for resisting our punishment.
