I don't think so. It's very socially regressive for a start, and the woolly centrist liberal core voter of the Lib Dems is one of Blue Labour's explicitly despised groups.

The only time I've taken a sleeper bus with proper beds was in Vietnam about 10 years ago. It was ..er.. austere, but incredibly cheap and convenient. For sure, not something you'd want to do 2 nights on the trot, but at the right price it could be a winner.

Looking back at the predictions I've read since my eng degree in the '90s, I'd say the stated 'absolute ceiling' is the number that is sailed past without issue about a decade later.

Indeed it can, it has happened in many countries already as the green transition moves at rapid pace. The USA is simply a laggard.

Yeah, this is the really important point that people don't get. We don't have to worry about a backup system to cover the edge cases, because we've already built it.
It will be good one day to completely eliminate gas power stations, but it's not today's problem. For now, we hold them in reserve.

The USA is a huge, relatively sparsely populated country with vast natural and economic resources and the necessary technology is already commercialised.

I think something permanent has changed. Allyship with Europe is no longer bi-partisan, so unless we want whiplash every 4 years, we need to distance ourselves.
