Part 3 is here. The deep dive into the Ennies. If you're someone who doesn't know much about the Ennie Awards, you should read parts 1 and 2. But if you like a bit of inside baseball and are interested in award shows in general—this is the article for you.

this girl finishes her WIPs eventually #ttrpg #art #digitalart #illustration #absentiaart
An illustration from Absentia's TTRPG of a woman posing with a katana. She has a pale complexion, long and straight white hair, elf ears, and a yellow hairband. She wears lightly armored attire in a modern/sci-fi style with a translucent, plastic coat overtop. One of her arms is covered in high-tech armor that projects a magical shield over her side. There is a revolver holstered at her waist, opposite her sword's sheath.

I've been working on an essay about The Struggles of TTRPG Outreach and Fandom but I think this tumblr post just captured the whole sentiment im like 100 words.
Fact: Apart from pure recognition factor, one of the major reasons your fanart gets more eyes on it than your OCd is because people are perverts for narrative context, and your OCs don't have any.

Corollary: you don't actually need to write a whole-ass graphic novel to achieve that narrative context. You do need to know what your OC's story is, but once you do, you can literally just draw contextless snapshots from that story that raise more questions than they answer and people will fill in the blanks.

this was called Cohost—not enough people used it or spent money on it relative to the amount of money it cost to (1) pay its 4 employees a living wage for their labor; and (2) keep the site running, so it died, nothing like it has taken its place at the scale it existed, and now we're here

VOID_SHIFT is out (digitally)! It's a solo deckbuilder that takes like, I don't know, half an hourish to roll through a job. 30 cards to assemble a 15 card deck, 6 job cards that comprise what you're doing.

I do have to give him credit, it IS better-looking than I remember, and it looks like the amount of text per panel has shrunken a bit.

(I did have to check when the first one came out. 2003, my god. Shout out to him for lasting through 2 full edition wars)
