The analogy I’ve been working on is that they see people build skyscrapers and think they can accomplish with hammers and nails what statisticians accomplish with welds snd rivets. Their tower might stand for a bit but I’m not combing the stairs

I did hear that, and it’s tough because even with the background it only works on a case-by-case basis. Lots of Coursera programmers who think “excel spread sheet full, formulas valid, truth obtained”. Not true! Science is the process that gets you the spreadsheet and it matters more than stats
