One of my favorite running bits is that Donald Trump over the past decade has repeatedly indicated that he believes stealth aircraft are physically invisible.

Absolutely world-class stupidity. You’ve never met someone this stupid. He’d be the stupidest person in any room you’ve ever been in.
Trump: "The only time anybody could see those planes was when those bomb chutes open up, because it becomes totally un-stealth. You're going in, you go like this. As soon as it goes like this, for some reason the plane is totally visible. Not good. I watched it happening. I watched it go bing bing"

The US Administration has banned Americans from *adopting babies* from much of the African continent.

Adopting.

Babies.

What trait do those babies have that, when they grow up as fully American adults, would make them a threat to our country in any form?
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

there is really no difference between the current administration and having the country run by david duke

I know this is a bold stance in America, but I simply do not believe we should be declaring war on another country for “stealing our oil” when the oil is, in fact, under the ground of that other country

I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

Donald Trump and his invalid admin are criminals of every description
A naval blockade is unquestionably an act of war.

A war that the Congress never authorized and the American people do not want.
BREAKING: President Trump orders a "total and complete blockade" of sanctioned oil tankers in and out of Venezuela.

Hegseth repeatedly misled the public about this strike.

The boat was headed for Suriname, not the U.S.
It wasn't carrying fentanyl.
The survivors didn't "radio for backup."

This strike was illegal, and Hegseth is trying to cover up what happened by refusing to release video.

The Trump promise: a foreign policy you need a massive stroke to appreciate
Fetterman expresses support for Trump's bonkers Truth Social post and aggression toward Venezuela: "It makes it that Iran is involved on that, and Russia is involved on that, and China as well too. That's sanctioned oil right now ... it makes a lot of sense."

Really enjoyed. As a math person I would just like to emphasize:
Bayesianism is mathematically identical to frequentist statistics. Its appeal is its intuitive parallel with natural language.

Socializing generic risks is good and the right critique is to make the point that fire is like disease in that it can happen to anyone and extend the principle to healthcare
This is what passes for progressivism and climate policy in California. Jane Kim’s answer for elevated fire risk and actuarial risk? Put it on the public dime. Urban renters should bail out well to do exurban property owners and landlords in fire zones. FAIR plan is already a ticking time bomb!

What are members going to “leak” about the boat attacks? That they’re unnecessary, indiscriminate, and unjustified?
Raju: "Why not give everybody the access to this information that could inform their key votes?"

Sen. Markwayne Mullin: "Because there's a lot of members that's going to walk out of there that's going to leak…Do you think [Ilhan] Omar needs all this information? I will say no."

Because letting us do the work has worked for them. They’ve done basically nothing and his numbers have cratered.

It is up to us to recognize that they failed not only in opposition to Trump, but in allowing Biden to run. They have to be ejected too.
Hard to come up with a compelling answer to the following question: With a president at 40% approval and his party very likely to lose the House in the next election, and with wind in its sails from a successful off-year cycle, why is the opposition party not fighting overreach harder?
oh for sure. I think you have to accept you can't win every election...which means really aggressively crushing fascism while you're in office with an eye on the truth that you aren't going to be in office forever, rather than counting on the next election to save you.

Also the government can’t define sex. I know peoples middle school biology memories, a class they probably got a C in after some bonus work, but nothing in the real world is neat and tidy.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).
December 16, 2025 at 4:57 PM
I say fuck em. The best way to reorder the country whenever maga is ejected will be to investigate *everyone* who has held an oath bound office.

If the dem authorities can’t actually represent us then they are part of MAGA and must suffer with them
Also, 4 Republicans voted nay (Cruz, Lee, Moran, and Paul) & 3 didn't vote (Daines, Hawley, & Moody). Meaning this bill absolutely could not have passed this stage without the support of the Democrats.

The idea that our reps can’t “denigrate the president” is odious at all times
At House Judiciary "Anti-American Antitrust" hearing, Raskin decries Trump for weaponizing antitrust law to reshape media: "this is how a gangster state runs"

Issa invoked House rule against denigrating the President. But Raskin only echoed Ted Cruz on "mafioso" tactics "straight out of Goodfellas"

This will continue until hegseth is removed. It is urgent that you take whatever steps you can. Otherwise you are complicit with further strikes
Total dead now stands at 95 starting from the first strike on Sept. 2, 2025.

The timing of this post and the reference to the murders being "due to the anger ... caused others through … TDS" suggests strongly that Trump believed that **one or more of his supporters** had committed the murders—and that they had committed the atrocity **justifiably**.

i was reading this at the bus stop and having complicated feelings about it, and the bus came and i got on and sat down and i noticed the guy next to me was watching tiktok (you know, like everyone on the bus), and i glanced over, and it was a jamelle bouie video

so ok universe you win this time
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.
