Ive fallen into the habit of scanning my friends homes and apartments for hidden painted-over vintage plant hooks and being like, thats a nice attachment point you got there, itd be a shame if someone DIDNT bring you a macrame to hang from it….

I also have had kids really get interested in using their new skills to modify and mend their clothing and get passionate about combating fast fashion. And this is all on top of them learning about microbial ecology, metabolism, and diversity, which we don’t have a lot of time for in class otherwise

But more importantly, the hands-on and creative experience really ends up resonating with many kids in unexpected ways. One of the first years I did it, one kid asked his abuela for help and they ended up really connecting over it and her experience with Mexican embroidery.

wow six weeks isn't that bad! ive been looking into double-knitting cause i want to make a Halo-themed scarf for my fiance, but a lot of sources ive looked at are like LOL GET READY FOR A FULL YEAR COMMITMENT 🫠😂

The first time I ever cooked real food by myself I was 21 and at a backpacker hostel in Sydney, in 2004. we got some chicken breasts to sear and have with basic pasta, and we were so scared of undercooking it we musta grilled the damn thing for 30 minutes 😂
