She/Her, 30-something that overthinks it. Learning 🇰🇷🇹🇼. I like all things biology, weird stuff, shapenote, and humanism. A darn yellow composite Taiwanese American.
I love Naver dictionary, I really do. It often gives excellent context through hundreds of real world (and not) examples sentences...And I still have not a clue what 엿먹다 means based on looking at these. Guessing it's vulgar? Loool

Finished Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk (English Translation by Antonia Lloyd Jones). This was a surprisingly fun, if very morbid, read, but the fact that the deaths in the novel are narrated by such a richly imagined, witchy main character is pretty entrancing. 💙📚

More Naver dictionary strange example sentence shenanigans.

Came across this interesting table from a Paul Nation 2014 paper. I read 18 books in Korean this year, but many of them were 만화 에세이 books so I think my corpus size is probably smaller. Anyway...

책 94 권 읽자! 단어 9천 개 알아야지, 송아야 ㅋㅋㅋ

Stray thoughts on Alexei Navalny's memoir Patriot. It is absolutely worth a read for its close look at what an authoritarian oligarch state costs the people of a country and offers, perhaps, lessons in how to be immutable in spirit while adaptable in the face of terrible and daunting systems.

After nearly five years as a consistent Duolingo user, it’s finally enshittified to the point where I’m dropping it from my language learning routines.

I think it’s not bad for getting through A1 in a lot of languages - good for testing effect for very basics and first two hundred or so vocab +
