In Australia, I tried targeting species instead of parks for my wildlife photography trip. It was an exercise in frustration.

A baby fur seal scratches in the shadow of a derelict propeller on South Georgia Island. Wildlife teems here years after the last whaling station closed.

As much as I love photographing wildlife in the snow, I'm not a fan of the rain. Here are some of my favorite wildlife encounters in extreme weather. birdsworms.blogspot.com/2025/08/all-...

The South Orkney Islands were named by explorers with a staggering lack of imagination. Whiteout snowfall made this my favorite day in Antarctica.

It’s wild that Christopher Reeve was billed third in Superman behind Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman.

I’ve been following NatGeo’s Bertie Gregory since we were both on Vancouver Island in 2012 looking for wolves. (He found one.) I never met him, but our wildlife paths have crossed over the years. Most recently we both spent time in South Africa. His new shark doc on Duh-Plus is fantastic.

Evening light shows every crease, wrinkle and clod of caked dirt on this bull. The deep wrinkles trap water, keeping him cooler longer. One of my favs from Kruger this year.

Blue is eye-catching in nature but not uncommon. It’s the color of the sky and the ocean on our Blue Planet. Enjoy this study in blue.

Trump is talking about shuttering publications and networks he disagrees with. He's talking about deporting and imprisoning Americans who dissent. This is unprecedented and undemocratic.

Wake up America.

The silence after a barred owl’s unanswered call is devastating. But tonight there was a response, prompting a delirious reunion before the birds flew off together and for a minute all was right with the world.
