Some core readings that sustain me..,

What a tender and nourishing piece from @mariapopova.bsky.social.

My heart is breaking about so many things, and I also know we must find sustenance in the midst of it as a “a countercultural act of courage and resistance.”

Joy — like music, like love — is one of those entirely unnecessary miracles of consciousness that give meaning to survival with its bright allegiance to the most alive part of us www.themarginalian.org/2025/07/04/m...

I’m so grateful for Chris Murphy, he’s been such a determined clear light in this dark time.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

Luscious roses always make me think of this favorite Mary Oliver:
“when everything has already been more than enough
the wild beds start exploding
day after day
you sit near them
the honey keeps on coming
in the red cups & the bees
like amber drops roll
in the petals: there is no end,
believe me!”
Two coral roses closed up and just beginning to bloom in front of Green manicure hedges. Pinky peach roses in bloom in front of a gnarled tree and an old stone wall.

May everyone fighting for our democracy, tap into capable insightful people like @anatosaurus.bsky.social who knows how to talk to people at a gut level- and helps others do the same.

Last big program I helped run, we targeted AND MOVED a much higher proportion of former Trump voters than much larger, mainstream programs. The same goes for flipping folks in other countries. It's not about left vs mod, it's about whether you're ready to run on values, build a choir, & persuade. /1

Wandering through the city of Bath England, a few weeks ago, I went into a darling bookshop and an employee was tiptoe, on a rolling ladder, and reader, it was all I had hoped and imagined 😍😂🙌🏼.

Ahh, that potent poignant line from @joshgondelman.bsky.social really spoke to me too. Less alone in sharing this disorientation of now…

It takes a lot of wisdom, creativity, and heart to communicate about climate in ways that touch and move people across cultural lines. Grateful for Katharine Hayhoe’s incredible work and modeling.

@katharinehayhoe.com ❤️‍🔥🙌🏼
bkuhnhaus.bsky.social
Oh, and my apologies for my misspell on Katharine 🙏🏼🙃

Grateful for Oregon Judge Immergut for holding an emergency Sunday night court hearing to block any national guard from other states from coming here.

And rockstar @annabower.bsky.social for reporting even later East Coast time for us!

Immergut: What I'll do is not modify my original TRO but issue a new TRO that prohibits the relocation or deployment of any federalized national guard to the state of Oregon....

I’m so proud of my city full of radical, silly, fierce, loving people. @anatosaurus.bsky.social has it just right ❤️‍🔥🙌🏼

Resistance. Refusal. Ridicule. Those are the ingredients to bring down regimes and among them ridicule is arguably the most delicious. The emperor isn't just naked; his goon squad is afraid of an inflatable frog.
Portland is TOO FABULOUS FOR FASCISM.

I’ve just been thinking about the incredibly powerful and tender connection between these two women as well, dear Penny ❤️

Watching the incredibly moving livestream celebration of Joanna Macy’s life filled with poetry, music, working through the Spiral that Reconnects, making room for gratitude, pain, love, and generosity.

So powerful to feel even beyond her death, her generative tenderness pouring through..
A close up photo of Joanna Macy’s face… She has twinkling eyes and an open expression.

This looks wonderful. What a gift Indigenous vision and leadership is.
Flourishing, kinship, and creativity feel like my clarion compasses these days.

“Flourishing and resilience are closely connected. Both voice a call for adaptation to the ebb and flow of events. They encourage us to be creative in generating resources. They urge us to shift perspectives, especially from victimisation to empowerment, and from power to humility.” - Yuria Celidwen

With deep reverence, Upaya honors the passing of Jane Goodall, whose life embodied compassion and care for all beings.

Dr. Goodall's tireless work revealed our deep interconnectedness and showed that every act of kindness matters.

Her presence was a living teaching of courage and care.

We join the world and environmental community in mourning the loss — and celebrating the life — of Jane Goodall. She brought hope and joy to people of all ages. In her words, “every single one of us makes a difference every day — it is up to us as to the kind of difference we make.” 🌅
bkuhnhaus.bsky.social
All honor and blessing to this vibrant, tender hearted, and determined advocate for our living world, Jane Goodall. May we carry on her spirit and her deep care.

Seeing videos of her holding her beloveds & encouraging young people all the way up to this last year, never fails to evoke emotion.
