So, two days before the Nobel announcement.

Trump lies constantly, so I’m not sure what to believe here. Phase One of a *ceasefire* - that has yet to begin - is hardly comprehensive peace, no matter what Trump is selling.

Let’s see what it looks like in a week or two.

I had pertussis as an adult. My initial shot had worn off & I didn’t know that the Army’s boosters at the time didn’t protect against pertussis.

And thanks to US antivaxxers I caught it on a flight.

I coughed for a month. Broke three ribs. Vomited constantly. Blacked out.

I’m a massive cynic. But there are many layers to what is happening.

It appears to me that most Western leaders have found his weak spot: relentless flattery & “going along”. Often, they say one thing to Trump & then busily do something else.

This gets us away from the ridiculous space-based ballistic missile defence ideas & the ground-based interceptor plan, none of which are likely to see the light of day for a decade or more.

Trump’s quoted number is far, far too low anyway. Think $1 trillion instead.

I get the concern, which is why I’ve been very loud in saying we need to stay the hell away from Trump’s vision.

What I *think* is happening is that Canada will try to sell Trump on the idea that NORAD Modernization *is* participation in Golden Dome.

The new money is going into NORAD modernization, the big piece being the Australian built over-the-horizon radar system. There’s no new money for Trump’s ridiculous scheme because there’s nothing to put money into.

Canada cannot escape NORAD, which IMO is designed to defend the US in any event.

He’s not going with Golden Dome. The only source we have for this is Trump.

Our participation will be what we have already committed to NORAD. Golden Dome is a ridiculous, neigh impossible boondoggle with a ludicrous budget and timelines. It isn’t going to happen.
