I don't think the followup series of Connections are quite as good (and some of them retread the same ground), but he also has a bunch of other shows like The Day The Universe Changed that are also pretty great.

Oh my god, I wish I had known you'd never seen this. One of the most formative pieces of media I've ever seen that shaped my view of both history and complex systems. I even did a talk using it to talk about incident retros!

As much as I loved the game, I definitely agreed with a lot of your feelings -- the main thing that kept me getting pulled along was trying to unravel the story bits (one of the things that didn't seem to pop up much in your essay, which was interesting to me), but I had similar frustrations.

On the other hand, when I have seen presentations by people like @lizthegrey.com who clearly commissioned custom art for the presentations, I don't know that I feel more confident about them, but I do feel *better* about them.

I think turkey just has less margin for error -- chicken or duck is easier to cook and is a lot more moist, so it's way easier to get dry, bland turkey than with them.

I mean, whatever you think the purpose of a code review is, if you are upset people are actually taking the time to review code, why are you bothering to require them? Whether they are ostensibly for knowledge sharing or big detection, it doesn't matter which.
