Also valid. A lot came out about him around that time.

Its frustrating when there are some things worth criticising that end up getting surrounded by a smokescreen of petty complaints.

What's the odds it was some chud complaining about it being anti-American?

The same range had a Sherwood Forest set which was a repainted Ewok village from Return of the Jedi.

This is failing to grasp the core stupidity at the heart of many opponents in that the believe you will only be able to travel 15 mins away.

Pacific Rim easily.

BattleTech did a lot towards the grittier, granular side of mechs.

MechaGodzilla for the kaiju crossover.

The Starship Troopers novel was hugely influential in a lot of ways.

Wild card choice, the Japenese live action Spider-Man as it popularised mecha in Tokusatsu.

I remember seeing it when it came out because I was really into Mirrors Edge. Never got a chance to actually pick it up.

Apparently there was a lot more to the world and story written but was cut back to absolute bare bones.

Underrated and ahead of its time depiction of a fascist dystopia- sterile and frictionless on the surface, the supports that actually hold it up hidden away in darkness. Supposedly a place that nurtures its citizens but anonymous, privatised brutality is just a corner away.

The 40k dilemma of re-designing the Imperium and Astra Militarum especially.

How do we convey the themes of the Imperium being a terrible totalitarian place without giving Those People something to latch onto?

Lean into them being Space Britain. Napoleonic stylings everywhere.
