Just hearing we've lost Sal Buscema, an absolute giant of comics and one of the true greats. His long run on Spectacular Spider-Man is as good as mainstream comics get. RIP to a genuine master.

Today's strip recounts scenes from Alex Raymond's very first FLASH GORDON strip from January 7th, 1934. There's some slight tweaks to make the time period a little more ambiguous, but whatever I could keep from the original story, I kept.

For folks wanting to do their own Arthurian drawings or costuming, an A+ resource: heraldry expert Wilfrid Scott-Giles put together a monograph in the mid 60s (of which I made liberal use) on the coats of arms and bearings described in the original sources:

I think one of the big assets for The Lord of the Rrings trilogy is Peter Jackson brings a horror director's sensibility to fantasy.
It really gives a gritty, tactile feel to the world that draws you in and makes it feel lived in while also heightening the fantastical elements to really hit you.

2025 was an interesting year for me. Fairly good, seeing some good achievements, memorable moments, reconnecting with friends, and settling into aspects of my life. Lost some momentum later in the year due to repeated sickness.
Hopefully, 2026 will also be a good year but also a chance to grow.
