Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick
A man in a suit stands at a microphone which has been mounted on the roof of a van. There are loudspeakers at his feet, and a building behind him. He has an arm raised, and is flinching as projectiles are hurled at him, because he's a fucking Nazi

Polanski's most important contribution so far has simply been getting this topic on the agenda and turning national dissatisfaction away from the blameless scapegoats other parties rely upon. Unchecked super-wealth is the issue. It's why things are shit. And now we're finally talking about it.
fraserc69.bsky.social
Good framing, however you feel about the accuracy. Super-wealth is the prime destabilising factor in our society. If you consider strong representative democracy to be a patriotic principle, the power of a tiny unelected ultra-class controlling most assets, media and Gov policy must be tackled.

Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.

Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains that their taxable assets can’t leave. #bbcqt

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
SHOCK POLL:
NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW
IN an amazing poll conducted
by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions
may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like.
However, 99 percent of journalists
agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when
Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)

As DC Vertigo is coming with his classic logo, let's all praise its designer, the great RICHARD BRUNING.
He was DC art director for years and thanks to him we have Watchmen, The Dark Knight or The Killing Joke designs...

You can pretty much guarantee that anyone saying "AI is here to stay" has a deal with an AI company of some kind. No-one with any belief in art (or indeed reality) believes this. I look forward to all these bozos being financially ruined when the clown car runs out of gas. Which will be soon.

“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

Wow, if the Express are concerned about Putin's flatly obvious influence on a UK political party, can I suggest they look at a different party? You know, the one whose founders engineered a disastrous Brexit and whose former Welsh leader just got done for taking Russian bribes?

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Badenoch, like all privileged elitists with no business being in politics, hates the idea of an educated population.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

Hey kids!

Remember when the pandemic struck and eventually the (Tory) government told everyone to stay at home, and the arts and entertainment industries were one of the few things keeping everyone from pulling our own eyes out of our skulls from abject fear and boredom?

Remember that?

At hospital for my regular check up. The only part of it I genuinely dread? Parking in their always mobbed tiny space car park. Any landing you walk away from, I suppose.

Yeah it’s pretty standard. Workplaces seem generally quite happy to continue to work people into serious illness and burnout.
fraserc69.bsky.social
Both lead to people just burning out, but that's rarely considered a factor, just bottom lines, be they profits or targets. Workplaces don't care about people in the main, and the care they do exhibit has been forced upon them by unions and laws created via union pressure.
fraserc69.bsky.social
For me it's a prevalent experience in most workplaces. Two major work cultures in play. Grind culture in private enterprise where doing more is seen as standard to get noticed/promoted (not necessarily doing good work) and in public services, where staffing is a joke so people have to take on more.
