Those are four excellent movies. I'd watch any of them again in a heartbeat.

I remember that the "plague of frogs" visited upon Egypt is ambiguous, it could have been lots of frogs or it *could* have been one, big frog.

So Portland Frog is a biblically correct plague!

I remember the huge stink around “Late Night With The Devil” because there was some AI slop used in the title cards. Horror fans were *angry*

Without reading the article, I will speculate that the writer asserts Cash is seen as uncool because of his faith. Standard-issue white Christian persecution complex by the writer.

Once, at a theater I worked at, someone mistakenly left a gap in the upstage black curtains behind a Beckett production. The amount of discourse around the meaning of that gap was hilarious

ME: Now Mom, just remember, there's a lot of disinformation and AI in your social feed and your friends' Facebook.
MOM: I know! My friend sent me this crazy post where someone used AI to make an image of a giant frog fighting Army troops!
ME: ... okay, no, that one's ... goddamit, Portland.

Your reminder that credit scores in the US date to 1989. For much of their existence, race and gender were factors.

They were invented bc it had been made illegal to discriminate by race and gender in the US, so financial institutions wanted a facially neutral way to accomplish the same thing.

Weird thing where people say “no one could have predicted it” when really what they mean is their political commitments and orientation were such that they ignored everyone who was predicting it

Sorry but “no one could have“ and you having your head stuck up your ass are two different situations

I saw someone refer to her as "The Marvelous Mrs. Measles" which is kind of perfect.

If you haven't seen it, watch "Incantation" which is available on Netflix. It gave me "Noroi" vibes when I first watched it and it is well done and flippin' creepy.

@alexwest.bsky.social I thought you would appreciate this.
A tweet stating: I don't get scared in haunted houses because I refuse to give former theater majors that much power over me.

I thought Obama's justice department should have prosecuted the "torture memo" writers, as well as Powell and GWB for the Iraq war.

Easily the most disturbing movie I've seen this year. I loved it, even as it made me wince and cover my eyes

A world of cuisine and Abby Mandel chose violence.
The cover of the 1990s cookbook, “Celebrating The Midwestern Table.” The cover art is a stylized harvest table. The subhead reads: Real Food For Real Times.

Skimming it, most of the recipes are generic 90s American cuisine. Lots of goat cheese and arugula. I did not see if there was a recipe for hot dish or for ambrosia salad.
