Zomg getting keyboard input working has not been fun. But, signs of life... and 2MB SDRAM works! #retrocomputing 6809 fun.

Woot! It’s alive, this is a C test program running on my 6809 computer with an ESP32 ‘video card’ hosting a JavaScript console over WebSocket. #retrocomputing

A Python Textual UI for MC6809 to run the ported Lua VM. Ported source and nix flake for building it, and the test harness, etc: github.com/blark/lua-6809

Ha! I got the Lua VM running on the 8-bit 6809 processor. 🤯 #retro_computing

Not sure if any other person cares about this, but... it's a major milestone. C code, compiled on arm64 macOS, using newlib libc, running on my 6809 computer.

Woot. Finally got gcc6809 compiling on macOS arm. Merry Christmas nerds!

One reversed tantalum cap (poof), and screwed up connector (why is it right to left!?) ... it lives! Here's a Python + rich TUI doing debugging /w ESP32 using OpenOCD.

Pro tip: don’t put a tantalum capacitor on backwards, you’ll let out the magic smoke!

Weekend PCB design fun, CC1200 PMOD. Basically a copy of their 433MHz reference design. If anyone is interested maybe I'll put some on Tindie.

While building a home k8s cluster I had a DNS issue that led to incorrect system time, causing the node to fail when joining. So of course now I'm on a side mission building a stratum 1 NTP server using an nrf52840 + u-blox GPS, in Rust. a) We take GPS for granted, b) ADHD 🐇💫

iPad Pro M5 looks very nice, but at >3k for a decent spec, when you realize you can't even have a full shell on the thing, it's ridiculous. What is "pro" about this? This is not an original take, I know - but worth loudly complaining about until Apple wakes up.

Air Canada CEO made over $12m last year, the company just did a $500m stock buy-back. But there is no money left over in the couch cushions to pay fairly, and for UNPAID labour? I hope the unions bring the pain.

It's sad what passes for journalism these days. A bunch of CEOs whining because they can't have a monopoly with their publicly subsidized networks is a fucking joke. "😭, I am making a bit less money than I would otherwise." nationalpost.com/news/politic...

I live ~3km from the centre of a city with 150,000 population and the fastest internet Bell Canada offers is 50mbit. Pathetic. $60/month for 50mbit internet is terribad. You can get internet 150 times faster from the same company for roughly twice the price. Absurd. Wake up CRTC.

Made some mods to my 10+ year old bike, what an amazing difference! Hydraulic brakes, new shifters, had to make some mods with the angle grinder to accommodate the larger hydraulic lines.

I am happy to report that my hydroponic experiments have been somewhat successful. Lessons learned. Not quite enough Serranos for my hot sauce plans. I'll have to wait until the garden starts producing. Tomatoes taste great, but are very small.
