I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

The city of Cambridge, MA started closing their river parkway on Sundays in 1985. And then wouldn’t you know it, they quickly creeped to Saturdays (in 2020 during a global pandemic).

Another major success of the Carter Administration that was underreported. I hope the next administration keeps up this smart, humane approach.

Agreed. And Her promised to cut taxes magically through “efficiencies” without eliminating staff. Sounds great. Who wouldn’t want that? But to cut taxes by 1% you need to cut the budget by $2M. Good luck finding that many efficiencies without layoffs.

And she ran such a vague campaign that everyone could find something to like. Even this victory article says literally nothing about what she plans to do. I wonder if Carter felt like he shouldn’t take the gloves off to maintain relationships at the legislature. Because this should have been easy.

Yeah good point. I hope I’m wrong. Her took every side of every issue, or was so vague that people could interpret her positions however they wanted. None of us really know what she’ll do.

Lol she lives on Summit and took a bunch of money from the SOS lawyer who keeps suing the city! But yeah she doesn’t have a position on it.

I heard Tommy Womack’s “The Replacements” on Radio K once shortly after I moved to the Twin Cities - probably right after it was released. And I have been trying to find it ever since without knowing the title or the artist. This is a crazy way to finally find that song.

Food assistance and home energy assistance payments for our most vulnerable families are under threat with the federal shutdown, while the president builds a $300M ballroom. If you can’t win the messaging battle on that one, you should get out of electoral politics.
