Another little hike this morning but this was on ice and had me wishing I’d brought a little more traction 😆 Wife making jokes about playing Shoots and Ladders after hiking up a few hundred feet. Well at least our ride is at the bottom. That’s right, staying positive 😂

I will let my dog out to pee in the morning and I can tell if someone or something has been in my yard. Dobermans are freaking serious when it comes to hunting you. Hair, nose up, goes to quiet mode. If she doesn’t quickly find you, she starts doing laps around the perimeter.

6 mile hike. It is gorgeous out there today. Partly sunny, 38 degrees.

Still surprised that Wenatchee has almost zero snow this year. This area of Wa state has been extremely dry. It’s about 10-15 degrees above normal. If you’re getting tired of the rain in Seattle, drive over the pass for the weekend. Nice over here.

Also decided I’d make a couple loaves of French bread for snacking. Add some pics when they come out of the oven

Made five quarts of pinto beans and tortilla dough yesterday. Today I hand rolled a bunch of tortillas and premade a 12 pack of bean & cheese burritos to put in the freezer for quick snacks. Love me some hand rolled tortillas

Think I put a hairline fracture in my elbow a few weeks ago. Took about six weeks to heal up. Made me slow down my workout routine through some of the holidays. Little break

It’s been an interesting couple of years living in central Wa. Seattle and Spokane just get pounded with rain, and Wenatchee, in between both, will be completely dry. Mission Ridge is about 25 min away from me and can be some decent skiing, from what I hear.

Went out for a hike this morning knowing the weather was unpredictable. Dressing in layers is a must. Looked great when we started. Freezing rain, ice pellets and then blizzard. Everything was freezing on the spot. Trail disappearing behind us, wife there, trusty dog just blazing. Good start 2026

So in 2026, the USPS will no longer process mail as it comes in. It will process mail when they feel like it. So they can deliver a letter or a package a month later. The Convicted FElon is doing this to prevent mail-in voting without outlawing it. He doesn't want the Democrats to win the Midterms.

this seems specifically designed to break mail-in voting (where deadlines are defined by postmark)
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

Morning frost on all the grass. Sun comes up, melts everything off. Ten minutes later, the fog rolls in and it all freezes again.
