Curious vintage illustration as it is the uncouth fellow that is depicted as having a car, whilst the elegant gentleman recoils from its onslaught. The beautifully cynical alcoholic author, Patrick Hamilton, (1904-1962) having been run over in 1932, decried cars as a plague upon the world.

I watched this worrying documentary last night. As a retired librarian it made me shudder. McCarthyism applied to culture and just as brutal. On school libraries, but we know that Trump's culture wars include all libraries, archives and universities.
