I wonder why so many different cultures named Tuesday after their god of war / Mars.

From Iceland to Thailand to Japan and even the Aztecs. How come they all decided that Tuesday was war god day?

And which language calls it 'the day before Wednesday'? That could be a confusing system!

A good evening at The Drapers Arms for Garvan's birthday. Molly, ex Drapers, had brewed a special birthday beer for him with Bruhaha Brewery. It was a late night.
Blackboard with beers and breweries listed in colourful chalk. Including Kilgarvan Birthday Beer brewed by Bruhaha Brewery and Molly. A barred of Kilgarvan beer. The moon behind the clouds. A closed sign on the door if The Drapers Arms.

I went to a great presentation the other day about designing for people with brain injuries.

Fascinating insights, such as someone who'd had a stroke using paper to hide text on a web page.

Because they found more than a couple of lines of text overwhelming.

Break up your text. Use white space.

Shame on Downing Street for going along with this. So much for being committed to a free press

I recently read The Siege of Krishnapur by JK Farrell. Brilliant portrayal of the British in India. At one point, as the certainties of empire collapse around him, the local British bigwig is struck by how little of India he knows. And by the realisation that it will remain unknowable to him.

How many Everton players have scored a hattrick on their debut?

Google says Blyth. And it does look spartan.

This is an actual exchange from a VP who took an oath to defend the constitution and, as a citizen, is expected to abide by the law.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.

The President of the United States just essentially declared a war on Chicago because — wait for it! — Black and Brown people live here.

This is not normal. This is not okay. And we are going to fucking fight back.
A TruthSocial post from Donald Trump, featuring an AI generated image of him in front of Chicago burning and under invasion with the words “Chipocalypse Now” near him stylized like the poster for the film Apocalypse Now. The text accompanying the post reads “‘I love the smell of deportations in the morning…’ Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR 🚁🚁🚁”

Here are some truth bombs for all anti-immigrant bigots out there, not just in Britain. Imagine if all the immigrants did go home. Be careful what you wish for.

It's a truism among football fans that the records will only show the result, not the fact that your team was robbed!

These records of Everton's early matches put that right. From a game in 1885...
