I think we have taken that turn. Accepted norms have been laughed at and we are at a point where arbitrary power has more authority than the rule of law. The Supreme Court has acquiesced in this transition with its role not being preservation of the Constitution, but condoning its destruction.

We've come down a dark path since the Militia Act of 1792. For me, the glimmer of hope would be that the court is sensible enough to declare the Insurrection Act(s) unconstitutional and rein in the power. Only a glimmer, though.

Trump: Everything we're doing is very lawful and what they're doing is not lawful.
