Good on Hakeem Jeffries for wanting public debates with Mike Johnson. Make him say it out loud to the public. Maybe we want to see the democratic process in action. At this point, maybe we need too. However, that also doubles as “Exhibit A” and they don’t want that. Is C-SPAN still a thing?

Credit where it’s due - Brett Kavanaugh has surprised me. He’s not a total sheep. We may not agree on everything, but he’s deliberate in decisions.

Watch the next Supreme Court session. It’s critical. All these lawsuits against presidential actions come to judgement. We know Clarence Thomas is in pocket, so we have to rely on people like Barrett and Kavanaugh and Roberts with makes me throw up in my mouth a little as I type this.

Because of that, expect the administration to try to force feed every agenda item over the next year. Eventually they’ll see the writing on the wall and get what they can.

I heard the quote from a colleague yesterday: “I’m so done with the people I voted for.” And he’s GOP - or was. The petty doubling down on authoritarianism has made a lasting impression and should have a dramatic effect in the midterms.

I made the comment of “This will be the year we don’t get back pay” before the shutdown happened and I was lambasted because of the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act of 2019. Well… read above. I was marginally prepared for it, but others will lose their mind.

This new rumor that the White House is claiming that furloughed federal employees aren’t entitled to back pay is going to ruffle some feathers.

Either way, getting the paperwork was like pulling teeth. Additionally, getting the entire US government to do their time card simultaneously inevitably crashed the system.

The disorganization of the furlough issuance is laughable, at least from the (redacted). I’m not sure if people just thought it wouldn’t happen or weren’t watching the news when Thune said there wouldn’t be another vote last night.

In just under 72 hours, the houses of the U.S. Congress will vote to either approve a most-likely continuing resolution or to have a government shutdown. We’ve grown much too accustomed to continuing resolutions as is rather than actual federal budgets, but I digress.
