2025, So Far
I wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time and talk to my dad in 1988, just before I was born, and tell him what it’s like to live in the future. I’d tell him all the amazing things that a...

I was really pleased when Veronica Esposito suggested this. I know that people who favor gun ownership in our community are very passionate and vocal. But, like Veronica, I really feel that trans people should be clear-eyed about the increased risk of suicide owning a gun brings with it.
Gun rights are the big trans news right now, but just because you have the right to own a gun, doesn't mean you ought to.

Everyone gets to decide for themselves about gun ownership writes Veronica Esposito, but statistics show you're more likely to use it to hurt yourself than for protection.
The Dangers of Gun Ownership — Assigned
In these scary times, it can be tempting to find a way to arm oneself, but its important to keep proper perspective of the real risks involved.

Strongly agreeing with this. Losing 2A rights would be bad enough on its own, but all of us being declared criminally mentally ill would be a crystal clear sign of even worse to come.

That they are even entertaining it is spine-tingling.
It's also possible to understate it.

The sleeper clause is where they declare that all trans people are mentally unfit.

Sorta like the state anti-trans student sports bills that slipped into law that everyone is the sex assigned at birth, erasing trans people from public life.

Full resignation letter from Demetre C. Daskalakis, a CDC leader, does not hold back.
"The recent shooting at CDC is not why I am resigning. My grandfather, who I am named after, stood up to fascist forces in Greece and lost his life doing so. I am resigning to make him and his legacy proud."

This framing is beneath contempt. The Christian right and MAGA launched an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of a tiny minority and successfully weaponized the pseudoliberal establishment - led by the NYT - to provide it with a medical controversy pretext that doesn’t actually exist.

At Law Dork, I wrote about that Oval Office visit — and what it means:
Trump told us the horrifying reason why Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not back in the U.S.
The Trump administration wants to send Americans to foreign prisons. Keeping Abrego Garcia in El Salvador is key to that lawless plan.

I'm calling for an investigation into whether President Trump manipulated the market to benefit his Wall Street donors—all while working people and small businesses paid the price.

Did Trump help insiders cash in on his tariff flip-flopping? It sure looks like corruption.

Why? Because Maine’s governor Janet Mills told him to his face she would obey federal and state law, not his bullying edict, and he snapped at her like he did at Zelenskyy and she said see you in court. So, being a thin-skinned hateful savage, he’s now collectively punishing/antagonizing Mainers.
The Trump admin canceled contracts with Maine's CDC supporting "enumeration at birth" -- the way 99% of American babies get their Social Security Numbers.

Now Maine parents have to visit field offices in-person to get their newborn SSNs

Why?

No reason given.

Least surprising news ever.
Of course the NYT sees the "DEI" stuff positively & is neutral on anti-trans discrimination

I have to say it is a special kind of hell to have watched all of this anti-trans rhetoric and legislation build up for the last 5 years in states and to report on it today.

It feels like a nonstop hose of the worst things imaginable. There are dozens of stories I still haven’t gotten to.

literally every trans person I know is labeled an "activist" just by virtue of existing and wanting to keep existing, and sure, everyone should advocate for others and better things, but it also means they'll dismiss anything you say because it's "biased"
Labeling people as "activists" simply for having an opinion about the ongoing effort to push them out of society is ghoulish.
