I can only imagine that, if they overturn conversion therapy bans, that will truly only help asylum claims for trans Americans in Canada considering it is a criminal offence to provide, promote, advertise, perform, or profit from conversion therapy.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court hears a challenge of a Colorado law that forbids licensed mental health professionals from attempting to change minors’ gender identity or sexual orientation. Experts say the practice is "can be harmful, and should not be part of behavioral health treatment.”
SCOTUS wades back into the war on trans kids—and considers greenlighting conversion therapy
The science is in: the anti-LGBTQ "treatments" are ineffective and dangerous.

huge props to the reporters who seem to have asked every possible department and minister at every opportunity they could find what the hell is going on, nice to see the CBC continuing to do a pretty decent job at that

don't worry neoliberalism will surely be able to solve this through effective regulation and a robust taxation regime, two things it is definitely capable of doing

I agreed to do coverage for colleagues twice this week which means I’m working two, fifteen hour days.

This is now a caffeine tracking thread. Because why not.

RETVRN but it is just an irresponsible level of OTC drugs instead of bigotry and fascism

The fact that we can get Tylenol 1 (acetaminophen + codeine) without a prescription is great. Last time I did they just asked “30, 60, or 120”.

More things should just be OTC. If we can’t have doctors let me do it myself at least.

No wonder we can’t figure out how to build a god damn boat or train in this country when we elect people whose only skill is being able to dodge a question.

“Despite the concerns” yeah man despite the concerns that you’re applauding a guy who openly called for me to be stoned to death? Despite that? Anything else people should be allowed to chuck at me to make you feel safer in your job? Thanks man, doing a great job so far.

Not only did my MP stand apparently he felt it was necessary to defend doing so, so that’s great.

Good luck at the next election buddy, you do know you’re a Liberal MP in a mostly NDP riding yeah?

Many Canadians were dismayed to see MPs stand to honour Charlie Kirk - and despite the perception that everyone took part, several MPs have explained why they didn't stand to applaud. #cdnpoli thetyee.ca/News/2025/09...

dissolve every municipality in this region that does nothing about this and replace their councils and mayors with a victoria staff member and disenfranchise their entire populations until they are capable of empathy for other human beings

I really don’t like to criticize my fellow local governments, but I am OUTRAGED at this decision.

This week, Sidney rejected its one and only Extreme Weather shelter, which was aimed at the dozen or so homeless SENIORS in the town.

All paid for by BC Housing.

The shelter would have run out of a community space in Wakefield Manor on Third Street.
