Legal stuff. Wind farms. Biotech. Sometimes agriculture.
I googled this whilst bored to tears watching a William Sitwell narrating his great aunt's "Facade" in the nave of St Hilda's one evening.

I know this! Largely because of looking it up when at St Hilda's in Whitby. It's a viking name from a Valkyrie or something similar, or at least that's where Hilda got it, so I presume the others are channeling viking energy.

I fear they'll take a while to percolate into the provinces, let alone my rural corner. In the interim I'm going to teach myself the way of the noodle.

A friend from Xi'an introduced me to them. I sort of knew but hadn't appreciated how most "Chinese" food in UK is (both terrible, not Chinese and) a simulacrum of Cantonese.

Many steps removed from the northern cuisines that I'll now hunt out.

Is it that one in the arch by the access ramp? I saw it one morning when I walked by and made a mental note to go back.

I went to the lovely Xi'an Famous Foods in New York last year and they also do a bang (biang)up job of a wide noodle (designed to throw oil over ones front).

Still, always depressing how many people in sheer numbers are looking at him and saying "Yep, all good for me!"

They always said "Don't be fooled by the similar language, it is very much a foreign country" but I am starting to think we are dealing with a different species.

Get yourself on ALL the lists, or you're not winning!

Did I mis-spell "gibbet"?

I strongly suspect your rank and file Daily Mail reader out there is convinced he was ousted just "because he was friends with a paedo", and they are happy enough with that.

For me, the more Dan uncovers, the more I want to build stocks in the town square.

I assume you are talking about Bsky/Social media?
FWIW I gave it up last year about this time when someone in the office said "No one ever gives up stuff for lent any more".
I immediately deleted the apps and went cold turkey for more than 40 days and it made it bearable and fun again.

I'm now suspecting your great grandfather wasn't the "honest to goodness, man of graft and toil, builder" claimed in family history, but perhaps was in another line of work.

Put it this way: if you are trying to predict Trump's actions, "what would a committed racist/minsogynst do?" will get you about a 95% hit rate. "What would a desperately insecure narcissist who is deeply afraid of weakness & drawn to bullying strength do?" will get you 100%.

These McMansions are getting out of hand.

I'm not fun of Ratcliffe but that headline trades on indignation to try and make a point that isn't there. The two halves are a non-sequitur: a business leader can be obnoxious whilst the company does things which are still permitted.
There is an illogical undercurrent.

Does this mean that all the nutters who blocked me for following her will now unblock?

(I'll have to just find them and block them instead, weirdos)

I just read about it on wikipedia as I was shocked I hadn't heard before. What an awful tragedy.

I need the sight of the sea viscerally. Don't want to go on it particularly, but if I spend too long away I need to go back for my fix of waves and spume.

(Yes, I said spume)
