Seeing if I can get thru LOTR via audiobook, bc normal book & movie weren’t very successful. I forgot there’s so many songs, like… can we not? I appreciate that about the Kingkiller books, he’s a musician and we get no song lyrics ever. & he hates poetry. No magic words either, they just murmur lol

Southern Vampire Mysteries. What I love so much is the timely references like how she wants to have a blizzard from the DQ and how the queen of Louisiana ought to be wearing “a Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B. outfit.”

My bad, it was an Oreo Blast from Sonic. (I’m going through all the audiobooks)
I also really love the parts in books where they just do normal things like go to the grocery and make dinner. Sookie making cheese straws for a baby shower is one of my favorites.

as the dehumanizing of people advances by leaps and bounds in the US, the corporations and media continue to make sure we consistently describe our AI interactions as "chatting with" or "asking," so we think of it as human

What about associating books in your memory because they are physically similar? Do I have my copy of The Neverending Story here or am I thinking of Jane Eyre? The cover fell off one of them, but which? Or was that Gone With the Wind?

Or Iike, the stories that take place during a world war; the Pevensie kids are in the wardrobe while Meggie’s brothers are dying while Tanya & Alexander are fucking in a tent while Roald Dahl’s plane is getting shot down while Annemarie is bravely skipping with her little basket past the officers.

I love to think of different book characters living in the same world at the same time? Like Anne of Green Gables and Mabel from Grandma’s Attic were both hanging out on farms in the 1880s. (& both making liniment cakes)

I’m on the third book in a row to mention liniment. I guess those old-timey folks really liked their liniment, so much so that they’re accidentally flavoring cakes with it. (This happens in two completely different stories)

I guess I can pick up where I left off on the old other thing, making stupid references to whatever media I’m working thru. First up: Anne of Green Gables & Everywhere Else
