Sometimes I also need to proofread what I type before I hit send..... and or stop relying on voice to text because I feel like it is getting so much worse at ACTUALLY GETTONG WHAT IM SAYING.

(Also unrelated, but BlueSky does support 4 images in a single post, I'm not sure why it wasn't working for you)

I do not know how folks passwords got leaked if it was from clicking on something prior, inadvertently entering password where it shouldn't, a separate account getting compromised and password accessed that linked to it. In most cases you won't know you're info is out there until you get hacked.
January 23, 2026 at 2:46 PM
A few things of note, this specific hack Is Random and the only way to prevent it is to change your password and or regularly change it and apply 2 factor Authentication, the crypto spam scam buys emails off of the darknet and then logs into your device and start spamming people.
January 23, 2026 at 2:46 PM
If it was the fake game scam then I can promise you that yes they are likely inexperienced, just following tutorials they find on the dark net. if it was the crypto spam one then there's a chance that your passwords were leaked prior & sold on the dark net, so also inexperienced just bought to spam.

I know it's probably too late for this since from the sounds of it you may have recovered things which is great but for sake of sharing just in case there's some lingering malware on your computer.

SO the best guide I was told from victims of the same (or similar hackers) Which of course doesn't help knowing after the fact, BUT for sake of hopefully letting the info out for others or to keep in mind in the future is the following.

If you were the owner of a Discord server and any member from your server sees this post I strongly recommend do not post in the server that they got hacked!

INSTEAD DM every mod and everyone in the server privately so that way the hacked account does not delete or kick users from the server!

If it was the fake game scam

A guide from what other victims have suggested as well as IT folks.

Rather this is the first in a while I've heard of a direct file like I know that that has been a method but I guess my brain has been so set on them using specific websites
January 22, 2026 at 9:39 PM
Tbh this is the first im hearing of a direct file, so used to hackers using stolen assets from real games to make it seem legitimate, it's easier to find connections between them since the hackers leave a paper train that way... straight file I got nothing.
January 22, 2026 at 9:35 PM
for the sake of my sanity I'm willing to accept 2 scenarios for that first "people also ask".

Would be Hacker's stupidly asking google that question, or Google's AI system piecemealed the most INSANE "QUESTION" as IF SOMEONE WOULD ASK THAT???

I know its not a case of "free" as in unleashed....
January 22, 2026 at 7:37 PM
That is definitely a title I have not seen before do you recall what it looked like? Or did they just send the file straight through Discord without a webpage?

If it had a site part of me is thinking based on the name of what it could have been but I honestly can't say I can tell.
January 22, 2026 at 7:25 PM
Either way that's neither here nor there I'm sure you're still sorting through things even still but do you recall the name of the fake game that you were reached out with? As well did they send you a YouTube video along with it?
January 22, 2026 at 7:10 PM
To be honest I wish I had the know how or ability to make an auto reply bot, because the majority of the folks that I end up seeing get hacked I'm either busy or asleep & I don't see them at the most critical moment it could help them, meanwhile though if it was a bot people might think it's spam
January 22, 2026 at 7:10 PM
So you're telling me that Google and Discord have just let this very clear and evident problem and security risk go on? I do not blame any victim for following for these scams I wholeheartedly blame the services that allow the scams to function without any system to prevent it!
January 22, 2026 at 6:10 PM
Counterpoint though even if the creation date is inaccurate the digital footprint of people scanning the same files and showing that they were first seen half a decade or more ago is proof enough that those files have not changed that much.
January 22, 2026 at 6:10 PM
A good few of those files were created decades ago!? mind you, they may have been modified, or the creation date was altered, within the past year or so but isn't it easier just to make a new malware file then to use an old file?
January 22, 2026 at 6:10 PM
These scams of existed for years and you're telling me Discord and Google have failed to stop them in any reasonable matter? From some of the viruses I've scanned on virus total and other sites it tells you when some of these files were created and a good few of them were not created this past year
January 22, 2026 at 6:10 PM
At this point it almost feels like every site/account needs its own email or at the very least non-google emails just because of the scams going around taking advantage of the security systems on Discord & Google especially. Seeing so many folks ignored by Discord has just made me so pessimistic.
January 22, 2026 at 6:05 PM
The silly thing about that scams logic, you're exactly right, you don't need to be told that someone is impersonating you and has a similar username you could literally just search it up yourself & if you can't find them then they don't exist. Unless it was a different username, so you wouldn't show
January 22, 2026 at 5:53 PM
Some people have said that they need to send multiple tickets just to be given the time of day, but others have said if you send too many tickets you'll get ignored more or worse. There's almost no consistency in Discord support system in this instance.
January 22, 2026 at 5:51 PM
From what I've seen in basic understanding it 100% depends on how the account was compromised and if the email specifically was compromised it also just depends on who sees your ticket and if the human actually sees your ticket.
