Luxon Govt subsidy to fossil fuel companies is 12 TIMES HIGHER per person than Trump's subsidy. Trump subsidy is US$625m to coal - NZ$1070m. Luxon subsidy is (at least) NZ$200m to oil and gas exploration. 5.2m people in NZ and 347m in US. Trump subsidy NZ$3 per person; Luxon NZ$38 per person.

Before 15 March we worked hard to flag risks to our community. But this will require action: in how we vote, how we connect, how we listen and talk to friends and colleagues, and those with whom we disagree, building stronger relationships based on respect for human rights, dignity & rule of law. We reject violence & terrorism and work for justice.

Taken down my video-because I agree with dear friends who have suffered unimaginable loss, that is decision made by our government today & the lack of moral compass, is who we are. This government does not however determine who we might yet become, we can be a more just & compassionate nation. 🇵🇸

I agree. The statistics show we are not supportive of this action but it comes from us. A government votes by us. As you know I do I have I will - it is not enough , I am so grateful Aliya for your grace, friendship and courage I despair with a deep burning rage at the loss and genocide

Even by the NZ government’s own ‘real-politik or supposed ‘pragmatic’ reasoning this is a shocking and shaming announcement because all small states depend on multilateralism.
