Not only is this correct, but it feels like it captures the Buffalo-Rochester split perfectly.

Inside of the locker space was prime real estate, too.

If our girl @jrbillin.bsky.social wasn't helping to raise the world's cutest baby, I'd love her thoughts on this. Feels like an underestimating the wild popularity of K-Pop, combined with the "it's a kid's move/girls' movie" blindspot.

I'm shocked at the staying power it is had since summer. (Perhaps our Halloween yard display will have a theme this year).

It's a better album than life of a showgirl.
bmoritz99.bsky.social
Pay us a rounding error for one of the variant sales of this album.
bmoritz99.bsky.social
And my own independent research on this, the youth are not fans of this album. They were openly making fun of some of the lyrics on their first listen.

"The Life of a Showgirl is made of Shein quality rip-offs of other people’s songs that are constructed shoddily and sold in ginormous quantities."

Goddamn that is good writing.

Can we get an @ifbookspod.bsky.social bonus episode of Michael and @notalawyer.bsky.social breaking down Life of a Showgirl?

I cannot believe these lyrics from the new Taylor Swift album are real
Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes"

"You made a deal with this devil, turns out my dick's bigger"

"Everybody's so punk on the internet"

"So we all dressed up as wolves and we looked fire"

"Got me drеaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop - Boss up, settle down, got a wish list"

"Please, God, bring me a best friend who I think is hot"

"He dick-matized me and opened my еyes - Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see - His love was thе key that opened my thighs"

"Good thing I like my friends cancelled - I like 'em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal"

"Did you girl-boss too close to the sun?"

"Who's the baddest in the land? What's the plan? - You could be my forever night stand"

"They ripped me off like false lashes - And then threw me away"

"Her name was Kitty - Made her money being pretty and witty - They gave her the keys to this city - Then they said she didn't do it legitly"

Can't help you on the Phillies. But same thing happened to me. I really rediscovered my Bills fandom when I moved far away.

This, right here, should be the mission statement for all of us in journalism education.

"The hard part is having something interesting to say. Get a degree in that!"

Being a podcaster costs $40 for a decent mic and $18 per month for hosting. The hard part is having something interesting to say. Get a degree in that!

I remember the press conference and Brady was just flummoxed. Especially after Sam Adams ran back that pick six.
bmoritz99.bsky.social
He's so good running to the right sideline and throwing. That, and the not-sacked completion to Diggs on the last drive, was Josh Allen shit.

Look. Invading our own country is about as straightforward a case as you can have for impeachment. The GOP abandoning the Constitution is kind of the only story there is and it gets no coverage.

Guys. I just had a crazy idea. What if the President DIDN’T deploy troops in American cities. Just a thought. Have we tried that before?
bmoritz99.bsky.social
I covered that game for my local newspaper. One of the craziest scenes I remember covering.

I wrote about the ascendance of Bari Weiss from a hack columnist to media royalty, and what it means for the future of CBS News.

Since the Ezra & Ta-Nehisi discussion is still happening: the main point I think most are missing is that Klein is saying the role of the journalist-intellectual is to do strategic politics, whereas Coates says the role of the journalist-intellectual is to tell the truth

"The trans kids facing violence, the immigrants branded as invaders, the women losing bodily autonomy—they need to know their party won’t trade their humanity for swing votes. And so do their families and those who love them."

Kept thinking about the debate between Klein and Coates and wrote down some thoughts.

I've long thought about this from the reader's perspective. But Aram's thread makes me realize there's probably a big impact on the writers, too. Which brings us to this point, whether it's Klein's recent work or hot-take culture in sports journalism.
bmoritz99.bsky.social
It's also stronger more forceful writing.

But I've wondered if there's an unintended side effect. Because "I think" stresses that it's just one person's opinion. Getting rid of it makes an opinion sound definitive. More like a fact. Facts and opinions getting mixed and shaken together. 2/

This whole thread is great, and something I've thought about for a while.

When we teach column writing, we stress not using "I think." You don't write "I think Carlos Mendoza should be fired," just "Carlos Mendoza should be fired."

The idea is, the "I think" is implied because it's a column 1/

...and knowing that I read op-eds with that lens; knowing that I as a writer was often unsure, more interested in prompting discussion, but that to get it read I had to write with 100% confidence and surety. This is not a problem initially b/c it *is* a more effective way to prompt discussion...

If Taylor Swift is out, maybe we can finally get the Super Bowl halftime show America needs: Weird Al and the Muppets

Huntr/x and Saja Boys really the only move here.
