A writer and photographer from Oregon who lives in the Netherlands. Posts range from serious news to micro-sized movie reviews and random photos of Dutch stuff. Someday I'll fix the cowboy banner. Someday...

The flying eyeball was likely the work of “Pop Eye,” a Dutch graffiti artist who’s done a lot of stuff around where I live.

# 1 - The Second Season of The Bear

I’d be hard pressed to think of any film or TV show that so perfectly nails familial dysfunction and the hell that is the restaurant industry. The Christmas episode and Carmy’s “uh-oh” conversation with Uncle Jimmy? Perfection.

# 2 - Pluribus

I’ve only made it as far as the first one, but holy moly. It’s just as gripping as the best episodes of Breaking Bad. A modern day Twilight Zone, both hilarious and completely terrifying, but can it keep up this intensity and level of quality?

# 3 - Last Week Tonight

Now more than ever, this one is a tough watch, but host John Oliver makes eating televised brussel sprouts and hard truths a bit more bearable. If you didn’t hear about the auction promoted during the season finale, here you go..

# 4 - The first episode of The Studio

One of the best first episodes of any show I’ve ever seen. Martin Scorsese was such a good sport and Charlize Theron’s cameo was brilliant. I'd happily pay to see either of those Kool-Aid movies.

# 5 - The final season of Stranger Things

It’s the series equivalent of the Olive Garden. Derivative and unoriginal, but it still tastes good. I would have been nuts for this thing if it’d come out when I was a kid.

It's what this administration does. Any excuse to make a bunch of people who aren't their billionaire cronies as miserable as possible.

I went through the ordeal myself on Saturday. Each item now requires a 10-digit HS code and information about their origins. The paperwork alone took me nearly two hours for three packages. The "helpful" link to the codes on the PostNL website was broken, too.
