I do software (mostly #ElixirLang) Having fun with it. I make silly, frivolous things. Live music, tech, weird markets, and urbanism chatter too. Often wrong 📍NYC ‘82 Jamaica Music Fest Lost Docu @eastcoastemo.bsky.social's other half www.bobbby.online

Had Claude do a deep research session on the history of Scottish law around property and timber rights and its relation to English rule and how it played out in evolution from the Roman era through Brexit and today.

Amazing bus / locomotive tour day companion!

Continuing along the highlands

Riding up through the highlands then a steam locomotive trip and riding back in the evening.

This entire bus ride has an “escort vehicle” in front of it and that seems excessive to me lol

This is what it is like for regular, not terminally online bsky users. hear of the mod drama, panic, already are fatigued from moving services

these regular users need to realize if bsky the company goes to shit the protocol & network live on

Socializing that will be key & it will take an “event”

I missed that over the weekend I guess. I’m not going somewhere else again. May as well jay go back to twitter at that point

Or world has gotten quite removed from thinking about hardware needs when the reality is that with the cloud no one’s had to care in 10+ years

Listened to this cover to cover twice this week now. Recommend! Ambient, experimental, unique, varied. It’s his first album.

It’s a kerfuffle with little impact on anyone passing in this scene and if they go evil another appview will take over, the company is more separate from the protocol each day

Left field, but I’m in Edinburgh for a week & have very similar interests to you and have enjoyed following you over the years.

Do you have anything that you might recommend that probably didn’t make my spreadsheet of the regular touristy and weird museum etc stuff?

You have unique and good taste

A lot of the stuff on here that makes things weird is like, just things no person would ever barge in and say to another? Like, there is some element of that even if in a crowd so large you are an anonymous face. Makes me wonder. I don’t have a hot take or deep insight here just thoughts as a user

A question: is the problem the lack of social information being presented reasonably and in a nice form to take in, or is it deeper rooted and the problem really is in the lack of socialization that comes with being so online and forgetting parts of personing that comes implicitly in meatspace

This is the valley where I lose my keys, forget what task I even had, get lost, forget to eat, then manically pull through at the end as I realize my true skill is spinning plates while under pressure and chain smoking

I’m using abstraction loosely here, what I really mean is genuinely creative social contraptions that utilize the whole ecosystem in unique ways

The stuff @tynanpurdy.com was sharing today really exemplifies that & also @stream.place working with new protocol level stuff & on top of this, the infrastructural work people like @rude1.blacksky.team are doing will only further enable people to explore & learn new abstractions to make new stuff
bobbby.online
I think a key piece here that needs to be considered is that it’s natural for people to build these “basic” things but it’s really a means of starting to learn abstraction. The ideas that will be very original and get momentum very well may be doing very creative uses of the protocol we dont see now

Yo @phunkywitch.bsky.social have you read zappa’s daughters memoir? I was thinking of you and picked up a signed copy today. It’s yours once I finish reading it if you want it!
