My dad told me, "Your employer is not your friend" when I was a teen being pressured by my manager to work unpaid OT (they didn't want to give me more than 37.5 hr/wk because they'd have to give me benefits, but I was at that scheduled limit and they wanted me to come in earlier off the clock)
