I made a Worst Hit Songs of 2025 list

I recommend reading through it rather than just checking the songs. Could spark some interesting conversations. :) buttondown.com/AlsThoughtsA...
The Worst List?
The worst hit songs of 2025! In a way. I guess.

"What kind of music do you like?" I genuinely don't know anymore
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

I just accidentally hit play on a song on Spotify, hit "back" and it returned me to the song I had been playing.

YouTube now has a button that allows you to remove the suggestions that pop up before the end of the video.

platforms improving the user experience! Can't remember the last time

“Eldest Daughter” very much becoming one of those songs I have to be in the mood to enjoy

I either feel it, or it’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard

Honestly, the sombr hate is lowkey negatively polarizing me to liking his music more

Awful news. Wes gets all the attention but Sam was vital to their sound. The first note most people heard from "Limp Bizkit" was the killer bass line to "Nookie."
R.I.P. Sam Rivers. Limp Bizkit shared that their founding bassist has died. Rivers was 48.

Okay, maybe I actually kinda love “Wood”

I always hear comparisons to other songs made talking of Taylor albums, but I feel like this is the first time noticing myself

Ruin The Friendship —> It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over
Actually Romantic —> Say It Ain’t So
Wood —> I Want You Back
title track —> Cool by Jonas Brothers

Ugh, with all this discourse the album better at least get Bar Song, Lose Control and Beautiful Things off the charts

Eldest Daughter is one of my favs on the album, so maybe I'm actually able to get into the headspace for this album

Not gonna tweet any thoughts yet, but the title track reminding me of Cool by the Jonas Brothers is gonna be way too distracting

honestly part of his appeal is THAT he's not really a hater and tries to find the positive value in everything

It feels morbid af seeing Romantic Homicide rising to the Top 10 on Spotify, surrounding by KPop and Sabrina Carpenter tracks

I know people like to clown Eminem for bragging about inspiring Hopsin on “Fall”, but I’ve always respected the fact that he just owned it

rewatching the Trainwreckords episode on Cher and Gregg Allman’s album and it’s stuff like this that makes me wish we had social media in the late 20th century. Could you imagine 70s Cher stans and 70s Allman Brothers stans beefing in PopCrave replies

It’s amazing how much slop content like this there is getting 100k+ views a piece
being honest I see shit like this I block your channel. You're just being a bully to people about old work and creating a hostile environment for future creatives.

That new Rihanna song has to be the real-life equivalent of the walk cycle from SpongeBob

For the record Maroon 5 working with a K-Pop artist 100% makes sense

They’re actually quite popular in a lot of Asia, particularly South Korea

“Ordinary” is at #2 and is barely even getting started on radio right now

Once it does, that song is *never* leaving the Hot 100
