It really bothers me that I don't know the connotations of foreign names. Some random person in a foreign movie could have a name that's the Korean equivalent of "Melvin" or the Italian version of "Karen" and I won't ever know and it kills me

Babygirl - "Dancing with Her" (2025)

This is a Canadian band with a member named Cameron Bright, and this is driving me crazy, I can't verify whether it's the same Cameron Bright who played Leech in X-Men 3 and was one of the Volturi in the Twilight movies

Dilbert was my favorite comic strip back in the day, made me feel smart and was genuinely funny. scott adams always had 'edgy libertarian' vibes but trump broke his brain like many others, and that eventually spilled into his work. an example of when it becomes impossible to separate art from artist

Starting a running tally of New Old Songs On The Hot 100 for 2026 (old = older than three years). Let's see if we can beat the 13 from last year

1. "End of Beginning" - Djo (2022)
2. "Purple Rain" - Prince (1984)
3. "Landslide" - Fleetwood Mac (1975)
4. "Running Up That Hill" - Kate Bush (1985)

If this is indeed Aaron Rodgers's last game, I'm happy that I at least got to see one of the best quarterbacks to ever play go out scoring 14 points for the wrong team like a fucking bitch like he deserves

impossible to remember now, but for most of his career Aaron Rodgers' reputation was that he was thoughtful, likable, and enjoyed facts so much they let him host Jeopardy

Can we do it. Can we really have an NFL game in the 2025 season end with 6-7

"No Other Choice" becomes the second piece of media I've seen, after "The Office," that uses the paper industry as the saddest, most pathetic thing you could be doing with your life

My favorite part of this is that head of ICE Greg Bovino, who is 5'4" tall, has staffed his personal unit with mostly equally short men to disguise how tiny he is. Ain't nothing wrong with being a short king, but Little Man Syndrome is real and it's clear as fuck that this little dude has it.
ICE at Midway Target and seem to possible be leaving. Lots of community members here

I assume you've seen @patfinnerty.bsky.social's commentary that Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" steals the wer-ner-ners from "Beat It," right? Well I'm happy to report that Aldean's newest song steals the "neer-neeeer" from "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"

And what I think is cool is how both works really dive into how this homogenizing force shapes these two differing identities in very specific ways, showing how race, gender, and class cut across and influence each other. May need to put these works in conversation.

I realized that the hive mind in Pluribus and vampirism in Sinners (a sort of hive mind) both kinda represent the homogenizing force of cultural colonialism. I think the big key difference is each work's distinct perspective - one on Black community & the other an upper-middle-class queer woman.

If Ken Jennings is the Emily Post of the internet I would love for him to do a thread on how incredibly inappropriate it is to comment on behaviors or mannerism of a person you don't know and diagnose them with neurological and/or developmental disorders.

The new Bruno Mars song sounds like "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" by Leo Sayer. Not sure if that's a winning sound right now. Betting against Bruno Mars has always been a loser's gamble but can't say I'm particularly enthralled by it.
