The government is non-profit! If the government operated to be profitable, it could not have any programs for social/humanitarian needs like health, education, programs for the disabled/elderly, disaster relief, etc. Forget consumer protection, oversight of Big Pharma, and science/environment.

8/ The American political economy is still capitalist, because fundamentally it is still a system derived to generate profit for the owners of the means of production through the exploitation of wage labour. But it’s a sort of Machiavellian neo-Mercantilist capitalism. And it sucks. That is all.
