I remember Trevor Phillips when he was President of the NUS.
He was an utter **** then, and the more I've seen and heard of him, the more I believe my original assessment of him was correct. He pretended to be left wing, as back in the late 70s that's how you'd rise in the SU, but I never bought it

Bottom line is Burnham *ought* to know the rules (any mayor or police & crime commissioner needs to resign their position if they want to stand as an MP, thereby causing a potentially unnecessary byelection), so putting himself forward was stupid on his part. BTW, I'm no fan of Starmer.

They became annoying a long time ago. I left East Molesey for Northampton 8 years ago. Back then, there were hundreds in the trees outside my house. What a racket they made. Some say they were the 'overflow' from an even greater number at Esher RFC up the road. No birds were I am, now. NONE!
