AB 736 would secure $10bn over four years for affordable housing. BCLT is one of 100+ housing and local organizations in the state supporting this initiative. California has a shortage of 1.2 million homes, yet @gavinnewsom.bsky.social’s Jan budget proposal allocated $0 for affordable housing.
Reducing uncertainty is the main theme of this year's California housing permit streamlining legislation.
Right now a problem isn't only that permits can take a while, it's that you don't know how long, which means it's hard to schedule workers, etc.

Marin approves $9.39M more for rural housing project

Today our Marin County Board of Supervisors made solutions possible. We can now legally permit emergency shelter, to quickly improve living conditions and give people who are displaced someplace to go.
