Bookish Hermit is taken most places, but luckily I have a big vocabulary. I mostly read stuff and watch stuff and listen to stuff.

I never want to hear another American make fun of North Korea ever again.

Starting to think Luigi didn’t do it, and I don’t know if that makes him more or less likable.

Is the phrase "this gives me the hinks" something actual people ever said? Or did we all just lift it from that one episode of Aeon Flux?

What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

Almost just posted a picture of my desk to a work Slack channel. Luckily I noticed the prominent weed vape I’d forgotten to move. I do not have enough tenure to get an “oh that rascal” pass on that.

The thing is: I have a big enough brain to know what depression does to me and to still suffer while it’s happening. Understanding barely consoles me. Maybe I’d even deal with it better if I thought I was beset by demons.

A few years ago I had my Ebineezer Scrooge moment, where the scales fell from my eyes and I saw that everyone who’s ever disliked me or just wanted to get away from me 1000% had a point.

I don’t recommend it.

If I'm honest: I really only love the Tom Baker years of Doctor Who. The earlier stuff is okay, but I'd probably rather watch a Hammer movie. The later stuff is mostly different flavors of dire.

I know I liked Everything is Tuberculosis and found it compelling at the time, but a few months later I kinda feel nothing about it? Comparatively, I’m still angry about stuff I read in More Everything Forever.

It is wild that someone I used to respect considers Elizabeth Holmes a victim who deserves a pardon. Genuinely thought it was a bit at first.

I’m just saying, I would’ve come up with something less repetitive, like Ford Maddox Wigbanger or something

“I Heard it Through the Grapevine” and “Yummy Yummy Yummy” came out in the same year. Pop music has always been this good/Pop music has always been this bad.

Pantone color of the year is "Cloud Dancer." Looking at this and its vibe, I guess "Hwite" was already taken?

If you’re an American of a certain age, @susanpowter.bsky.social is etched into your subconscious. This is a terrific conversation with her,and a great overview of the wild path she’s been on.
DID YOU WATCH YET? You guys, I’m still figuring out what Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off is, but wow, am I proud of this week’s episode. My guest was the one and only, unstoppable, unsinkable and lovable @susanpowter.bsky.social

I loved THE RIDER, but my interest in HAMNET can't be seen without an electron microscope.

Also if you can do a Marge Simpson imitation, Erie Canal is a very fun song to sing as her.

When you realize the mule in the Erie Canal song is only named Sal for the rhyme...

Is that a moment of awakening?
Or betrayal?
Or both?

Almost the worst thing about HOLIDAY INN's extended blackface number is that it's kind of well intentioned. Still horrifically racist to the point where the movie is unwatchable now, but the song itself is about how great Abraham Lincoln was for the emancipation proclamation.

The good thing about reading books by dead people is they’re unlikely to do anything new that you’re going to have to deal with. Though I suppose they could still find some baby skeletons buried in Gertrude Stein’s backyard or something.
