Mostly drinking cocktails to try and forget the mess we’re all in.
That sounds an excellent plan, cheers! I have a pre-mix Winter Citrus Negroni, which is very good (Asterley Bros, who also do excellent vermouth and are worth checking out. I have returned to #ConfinedKitchen principles, and am making risotto! #ConfinedCocktails

It’s time… a Christmas Negroni, and appropriate Christmas tree ornament.

Mimosa blooming out of season on this morning’s #UnconfinedWalks

Cheers to both yourself and aunt. I am trying to use up some bottles before Christmas, so have a Savoia Spritz, alongside last week’s flowers, which are holding up well. #ConfinedCocktails

A Polish Martini to start the weekend, next to an appropriate tree decoration.

A bracing #UnconfinedWalks at Alnmouth this morning before catching the train south.

That reminds me… this week’s Freddie’s bunch was called ‘Cocktail Hour’ and they looked like this before we left. Just combine the two…

Greetings from Northumberland, where I have a warm fire and an ice cold martini. #ConfinedCocktails

This afternoon we had a occasionally damp walk by the sea, saw a rainbow and met an excellent dog.

In Northumberland, where it has mostly been raining, so spent the morning in a bookshop.

#TeaUp while I contemplate actually putting this tinsel on the tree.

Cheese and wine tasting imminent, so a light one tonight - a Less Is More Negroni with Savoia Americano and quarter strength gin.
November 29, 2025 at 7:10 PM
I have a Savoia Plane (Mezcal, Americano Rosso, Yellow Chartreuse, etc) to start the weekend, and Arabica meatballs currently cooking.
November 28, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Tried out pop-up bar in our local Fenwick’s. The Plum Old Fashioned is highly recommended.
November 26, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Another advantage of shopping in independent shops: sometimes they have a dog. Met this excellent girl this afternoon.

Cheers! Appropriately given your travels, I have a French Rose (gin, cherry brandy, Lillet Blanc). Between seeing Operation Mincemeat and husband’s last speech therapy appointment, it’s been quite a good week. #ConfinedCocktails

Husband ‘graduated’ from (had his last appointment with) post op speech therapy today. While he doesn’t have the voice he did before, he has noticeably improved, so we’re raising a toast to that (and his speech therapists) with this Figroni (a Negroni made with Fig Leaf gin). It’s good!

And does Income Tax taste nice? It does do lots of good I suppose. Cheers anyway, I have a Normandie 75 (replaced gin and champagne with calvados and sparkling cider), from my new cocktail book. #ConfinedCocktails

Also, some nice singing.
November 14, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Went out for Canterbury lights switch on. Had some nice drinks and met an excellent dog.
November 14, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Made a new (somewhat hard to photograph) feline friend on today’s #UnconfinedWalks
November 12, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Cheers and hope you make it home without further incident… I have an Ernest & Rita, delicious if perhaps not seasonally appropriate! #ConfinedCocktails
November 8, 2025 at 7:12 PM
It’s Friday. It’s time for a drink. This is a Lychee Martini, and it is good.
November 7, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Cheers! I have a Negroni Rosa, before some slightly experimental cooking - the experiment being if the husband can eat it. #ConfinedCocktails
November 1, 2025 at 7:13 PM
