Mostly drinking cocktails to try and forget the mess we’re all in.
The great pre-Christmas fridge and freezer defrost has begun. Wish me luck.

This afternoon we had a occasionally damp walk by the sea, saw a rainbow and met an excellent dog.

In Welsh it's mis Rhagfyr, which means 'the month of foreshortening'. Does what it says on the tin, I guess.
Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

Husband ‘graduated’ from (had his last appointment with) post op speech therapy today. While he doesn’t have the voice he did before, he has noticeably improved, so we’re raising a toast to that (and his speech therapists) with this Figroni (a Negroni made with Fig Leaf gin). It’s good!

Operation Mincemeat was brilliant. Loved it.

The sights of the West End! The lights, the songs, the enormous queue for the Ladies! (Fortunately Operation Mincemeat is as good as you all told me, so I don’t actually care that much…) #Interval

Operation Operation Mincemeat is go! (Well, we’ve made it to the theatre.) Turns out the mobile signal is better in the theatre’s basement bar than in most of Canterbury.

Went out for Canterbury lights switch on. Had some nice drinks and met an excellent dog.

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.
