and, mayhap, for profit.
Orion Brewery's Orion The Draft
Happy New Year
I won't be doing 365 beers. At best, this will be once a week, and probably not that often.
While my focus is going to be Canadian craft and small brewers, I do want to stray a little far afield today.

Phillips Brewing and Malting Co's Longboat Chocolate Porter.
First of all, look at the label. Very on brand for this page. Though I did prefer the older label.
Is that Huginn or Muninn in the upper right?

The black tree is way too big for the intended purpose, so I made four more.
L-R: Large oak, two small oaks, and a Grandmother tree.

Big Rock Brewery's Wrangler IPA
I knew it! I knew they'd sneak in one more IPA! Argh!
However, I have had Wrangler before, and it's an IPA I don't mind.

I've been posting a journey through Alberta Craft beers.
I'm not asking anyone to like or comment or follow. That's cool, but rather, I'd like you to read them, and then support your local brewers. Even try the ones I didn't like. The reviews are 100% subjective, and I'm no authority.

XhAle's Ultrasonic Ultra Light Beer.
I really want to be a positive supporter of "shop small, shop local".
So I will just say this isn't for me. Maybe it's for you. Try it and find out.
It's not bad, but I didn't care for it.

Blinsman Brewing's Trip Hammer Robust Porter.
Robust is certainly the word. From the rich brown colour, the heady bouquet, and the attention-demanding flavour, everything about this porter is full and powerful.

Troubled Monk 's Diamond Pilsner
Every time I hear the word pilsner, I think of the 1983 cinematic masterpiece, "Strange Brew". I'm not sure why, perhaps the Elsinore Brewery made pilsners? I can't remember.

Village Brewery's Monk Vanilla Chai Porter
I enjoy porters, and consider myself a pioneer of the palate. So I was looking forward to this.

Annex Ale Project's Annex Radler Grapefruit Light Beer
I don't mind radlers. I've even had a few I quite enjoyed. Stiegl comes readily comes to mind.
This is ok. And really, that's all I can say about it. It's ok. I don't mean to damn with faint praise, but I guess I have.

Medicine Hat Brewing Company's Prickly Pear Sour
Sidebar: I had to take a few days off. Stressors and bad situations had me very down. Growing up with several alcoholics in the extended family, and the family friends, I swore before I ever started that I would never drink when upset.

Just nope.
Not sure I can finish.

Brewster's Original Lager
After a couple of days wandering through some of the more exotic potential, we come up to a good old fashioned lager.

Manual Labour Beer Co's My Wife's Red Ale
It's the foamiest beer so far. This shot was after five minutes sitting and three pours. It's been a while since I tended bar, but I know how to keep a beer from being all foam.

Origin Malting and Brewing Co's Mango Sour.
As previously noted, I am not a fan of sour beers. I'm not pronouncing from on high like some self-annointed St Suds. It's a purely subjective matter of taste.

New Level Brewing's Krampus Junior Eggnog Stout
I put my beer in the fridge in the morning, so it's chilled when I get home.
This gave me all day to wonder what it would be like.

Sea Change Brewing Co's Irish Red Ale
In what is probably the dribbliest can I've ever opened is a dark, delicious ambrosia. Smooth of texture and taste, but with the strength you expect from a dark beer.
I thought this one might be good, and I was right.

Tool Shed Brewing Compamy's HCMS Calgary Pilsner.
I honestly don't really know the differences between pilsners, ales, and lagers. And I don't care. They've been explained to me by self-appointed beer experts, and I always wait for them to finish talking so I can start forgetting again.
