I have a hard time understanding why, when I pre-order e-books from @nostarchpress.bsky.social , they're available for purchase and immediate delivery from #Amazon before I can download my orders from the #NoStarch website. It happens with every book I've purchased in the last year.

One of my pet peeves: book publishers who post one release date on their website, allow their books to go on sale at Amazon on another date, and set a third, still later date for fulfilling pre-orders from their website.

You'd think the preorders would go first, but they're often 3-6 weeks later.

If your doctor says, "We'll send you home, and a visiting nurse will change your dressings," don't believe it.

Your insurance won't pay for more than a couple of visits to teach you how to do your OWN dressings. God forbid you want a pro to assess your wound, because infections can happen in days

I used to dread when GOP Presidential candidates won the election. It has led to years of lying, enriching the rich, & blowing up the national debt to cut taxes (while claiming to be fiscally responsible).

Trump is something worse, though. No matter which party you belong to, that should be clear.

Having the President punish his perceived enemies by destroying their legitimate means of doing business is just as scary as sh**. Nixon hated the Ivy League, but he never went that far. Trump's going down as one of the worst Presidents ever...

...and if he ever leaves, he'll claim he was the best.

Accusing Harvard of systematic anti-semitism is clearly a straw man. To wit:

(In 2024) "Harvard administration drew criticism for preventing 13 undergraduates from collecting their diplomas at the annual commencement ceremony as a consequence of participation in pro-Palestinian protests"

All you people who said in 2016 that at least Trump is better than Hillary, and that the GOP would keep a rein on him?

No, he isn't, and no, they aren't.

We could have shut this down in 2016.

This really shouldn't need to be said, but just because the CDC is no longer publishing warnings about the spread of various diseases like measles and hepatitis, it doesn't mean the epidemics and outbreaks have gone away.

Maybe people aren't as worried, but perhaps they should be.

My only complaint about #Bsky is that vendors don’t hang out here, so I can’t complain about crummy service.

Had to cancel my #Lyft trip - priority service - to the hospital because the driver drove right past me, then actually crossed a river going away from me. He hasn’t even met me!

Trump eulogizing Pope Francis sounds like W saying, “Good job, Brownie!”

That’s a bit of a deep cut.

If you find a doctor who actually listens to you, hang on tight! With HMOs, and care orgs demanding 15 minute visits, it’s difficult to keep a doctor’s attention long enough for them to properly diagnose you.

I’ve had three bits of my feet cut off/out after doctors telling me they’re healing fine!

You have to wonder how Trump found all of these nutbags in his cabinet, most of whom are either marginally qualified for their jobs, come from industries inimical to their departments’ missions (if not pledged to dismantle them), or both.

Someone handed Trump a list of GOP rejects & he bought it.

I’ve (unfortunately) spent a lot of time visiting hospitals this year. So far my current visit, to Georgetown Medical Center, while I’m in D.C., has been the worst yet.

I went through triage over two hours ago, but I still haven’t been seen by a physician. Maybe ‘cause I’m not in pain.
